Like really the buzz around tiger king or the reporting on the golden state killer reflect my issue with true crime bc at what point does it stop being about sharing the survivor or victim’s story and start becoming like this race to construct the biggest larger than life personality? None of the killers or abusers are that special or interesting or smart, and in every story you’ll find someone who knew and told the authorities like they’ve been taught to and were brushed off at best or harrassed at worse. Like these aren’t like supervillains police just do not give a fuck until it’s time to save their image lol
